About Me.
INSPIRED BY EXPERIENCE.
I started my design journey as a Visual Designer for print & web mediums. After half a decade, I transitioned into UI Design, UX Strategy and Research where I’ve worked as both a contributor and a leader over the 15 years that have followed. I’ve worked for small startups and large multi-national enterprises, in-house and as a consultant, across multiple industries – including consumer, e-commerce, SaaS and B2B.
Leadership.
HOW YOU LEAD MATTERS.
It’s clear to most that a leader should inspire. However, I believe many get lost at how or what that should look like. I believe a leader should first work to understand those they’re leading, then provide a vision that incorporates their capabilities and strengths. Such vision empowers the team to do the best work of their careers. As well, great vision allows each team member to work with the autonomy they need while providing direction and accountability.
MY COMMITMENTS.
These are the core beliefs that I commit to as a team leader.
• Weekly one-on-ones
• You have my attention
• Your work gets done your way, not mine
• I give design feedback and coaching, not approval
• I seek openness, transparency and candor
• I will listen first, then work to understand, before responding
• I trust you to manage your own time
• You are safe to talk to my manager or other senior leaders
• I celebrate and attribute credit where it is due
• I will invest in you and your career goals
MY ASKS.
In exchange, here are a few things I ask of each team member I lead.
• I want to hear your feedback
• Involve others in your work early and often
• Always look to help others, and be willing to seek help
• Explore multiple ideas, even if the first idea seems perfect
• Stay committed to learning
• Learn to recognize sameness and confirmation bias
• Work to understand partners as much as you do with users
• Prioritize heads down work
• Define and stick to your nonnegotiables
• Don’t leave business impact to partners
MY LEADERSHIP PILLARS.
• Care for the whole person
• Demonstrate outcomes you want to see
• Encourage participation and collaboration
• Build trust through autonomy and accountability

WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY.
ASHLEY CASH, CX SENIOR MANAGER“Jeremy is 100% that guy! Smart, scrappy, approachable, relatable, intellectually curious, and giving. We’ve shared the speaker’s stage a few times and Jeremy is no slouch. He’s funny and engaging but most importantly, insightful. He masterfully connects tech with our human sensibilities. What I love most about Jeremy though is his selflessness and heart for others. If you get the opportunity to work with Jeremy, don’t hesitate, do it!”
ROBERT BARFIELD, APPLICATION ARCHITECT“To start off, Jeremy is an individual who fits the mold of a true “artist”. His creativity extends well beyond the designer realm & into so many other facets. As a design leader, Jeremy is more than capable & presents himself as an enabler to find the creative solution that a client is looking for. He’s a class individual, who is a friend to all & willing to go the extra mile to make sure something is done right. I look forward to a time when our careers cross paths again.”
SHIRAZ SULTAN, TECHNICAL RECRUITING MANAGER“Jeremy is a GEM! He is a go-getter, an idea man and he hustles hard. I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Jeremy for 4+ years in local and national markets. Along with his extensive creative expertise he has a very sharp business acumen. He can design your brand, help monetize your business while humanizing your messaging. Unfortunately, there’s only one Jeremy Gaston, but if we could clone hard working and thoughtful humans he would get my vote! ”
